Lots of American-built boats have come and gone from the local market over the years but Crownline boats have emerged as a stable and market-leading product.
The Australian distributor, David Fraser, confirmed the strength of the Crownline brand when he sold more than 100 boats in the 2010 model year, an achievement he regards as a defining milestone.
"It is no secret that the boating business in both the US and Australia has taken a pounding through the global finincial crisis period," Fraser says. "Despite the tough times and uncertainty of the past two years, we have seen the Crownline brand gain great market strength. The fact we have achieved sales of over 100 Crownline boats during the 2010 model year is nothing short of exceptional."
Crownline's sales in Australia have not gone unnoticed. The company's CEO Kevin Riem recently personally congratulated Fraser on his achievement.
The Crownline range of fibreglass boats covers a complete line-up of bow riders, deck boats, cuddy cabins and cruisers.
Fraser says Australian buyers have gravitated to the brand as they recognised the quality, design values, build quality and long warranty. All Crownline boats in Australia are delivered on locally made Dunbier trailers, ensuring they meet local road rules.
The first Crownline boats were manufactured in 1991 when the company's mid-range bow rider hit the market. Since they were first imported into Australia more than 750 boats have been sold. Today the company produces boats from 5.5 metres to 10.6 metres -- all backed by a manufacturer's lifetime hull and deck warranty. Mercruiser engines installed in Crownline boats have a five year warranty.
