When French manufacturer Jeanneau decided to build a new luxury yacht for those seeking to cruise in comfort and safety, they headed for Phillipe Briand – who has created some of the most stunning sailing superyachts afloat.
Briand was asked to design a boat that was elegant, sophisticated and which offered large areas of useable space, both on deck and below.
That boat is the Jeanneau 57.
Jeanneau’s research showed that its customers spend up to 80 per cent of their time in the cockpit, so the designer paid particular attention to making this a perfect space to relax and enjoy every moment on the water.
Briand divided the cockpit into a lounging area, a dining area, twin steering stations and an aft sundeck with steps down to the large pneumatic swimming platform and dinghy garage.
From the cockpit, access to the interior is through double sliding companionway doors to a sophisticated saloon with extensive hull windows giving a panoramic view. The large galley has lots of counter space, a hige fridge and freezer, a microwave, icemaker and dishwasher – everything needed for easy entertaining.
There is also a large navigation station that has a washer-dryer cleverly hidden under its seat.
Not surprisingly the Jeanneau 57 is fully air-conditioned with a large, but well insulated, 9.5kva genset driving both the 24 and 12 volt systems.
Accommodation is dominated by a vast owner’s cabin in the stern with its own ensuite. Forward Briand has given prospective owners the option of one, two or three guest cabins.
The stunning new yacht promises to be a class leader in ease of handling, ocean capability and sailing performance.
